Sean Hay - Assistant Headteacher

As Assistant Headteacher, I am relishing the opportunity to positively impact our school. I started my teaching career at Monkseaton High School after completing my PGCE at Northumbria University. Since then, I have worked as Raising Achievement Leader in PE as well as a Pastoral Raising Achievement Leader in our Sixth Form. I feel privileged to be able to work with young people and help shape their futures. I firmly believe in inclusive education and am committed to ensuring that every individual under my care has a positive experience. Helping a student get to where they want to be, whether that be Sixth Form, college, university or the world of work, is the most rewarding part of being a teacher.

Kathryn Furness  - Acting Deputy Headteacher

As Acting Deputy Headteacher and staff governor, I strive to make sure we offer an inclusive education; our students are individuals and deserve to be treated as such. I am extremely passionate about providing a high-level of professional development for our staff to ensure that the teaching and learning our students experience every day is of the highest standard. I have worked at Monkseaton High School since January 2000, completing my teacher training at the school and holding a variety of roles since. I enjoy the challenge of supporting students to have high expectations and aspirations, making sure they are each ready for life after school.

Emily Thompson - Assistant Headteacher

I am delighted to be a part of the Senior Leadership Team at Monkseaton High School. I believe that every child deserves the opportunity to succeed, irrespective of their personal circumstances, and understand that this can only be achieved if a child feels safe and well-supported within and beyond the school environment. I am responsible for Safeguarding, Child Protection and Personal Development; I consider myself very lucky to have the opportunity to work constructively and collaboratively with our young people, their families, and members of our local community to make a difference, and to fulfil our school’s promise to bring out the best in every child.

Marie-Anne Dowson - School Business Manager

As Business Manager I am responsible for the strategic leadership and management of finance, administration, governance, premises, health and safety, human resources and IT.

I am dedicated to ensuring the school's efficient operation, ensuring resources are used effectively and leading the support staff in creating a supportive and high-quality learning environment.
