The course provides you with an understanding of a child’s growth and development from birth up to 8 years-old. You will consider theories and models of development and how they can be applied to childcare practice, as well as the factors which influence a child’s development. You will study the physical development and care needs of children and approaches to their healthy development. In addition, you will also be required to complete a 50-hour work placement in a relevant childcare setting.
