Closure of Monkseaton High School – Important Information
Following the decision made by North Tyneside Council in December 2024, Monkseaton High School will close permanently on 31 August 2026.
We would like to thank our students, families, staff and wider community for their support over the last fifty years. We are proud to have served our community throughout the lifetime of the school.
Support for Students Until Closure
The school will remain operational until its formal closure on 31 August 2026. While day-to-day student attendance will conclude earlier in the summer term, staff will continue to support examinations, results, transition arrangements and closure processes until that date.
We will continue to support our Year 11 and Year 13 students in securing their next destination, including sixth form, college, university, apprenticeships and employment.
Results Days and Post-Results Services
Results days will take place in school as normal:
-
A Level Results Day: Thursday 13 August 2026 from 09:00
-
GCSE Results Day: Thursday 20 August 2026 from 08:30
Post-results services, including reviews of marking, access to scripts and appeals, will remain available to students. These services will be administered by Marden High School, acting as our formally designated centre with the awarding bodies.
Further information about post-results services is available here (p1 and p2)
Exam Certificates
Exam certificates are usually issued during the autumn term. Certificates for former students of Monkseaton High School will be available for collection from North Tyneside Council.
Further information about certificate collection will be published here (p3)
