A Level Results 2017 – A Message from the Head

Individual Success Stories ‘Be the best you can Be’

We are absolutely delighted at Monkseaton to be celebrating today with our students their success stories and personal achievements with some remarkable success. This is testimony to the outstanding quality of leadership, teaching and learning, care and guidance that we give to our students. Students, parents and staff should rightly be very proud of their achievements.

These results have been achieved in the context of many national changes to 6th Form courses across the country and the introduction of new challenging A Levels. At Monkseaton we offer a full range of courses in the 6th Form and this really allows us to cater for the educational needs of all our students. These courses range from the traditional A Levels to more vocational qualifications. By offering a full range of qualifications we can ensure that our students attain and learn in a style that suits both their ambitions, interests and academic profiles to successfully progress to their next destination.

All students have progressed again this year onto destination pathways ranging from Dentistry, Law, Sports, Business Studies, Nursing to Apprenticeships or college courses. A few students are leaving for University in the USA as some have secured apprenticeships through football scholarships and another student a University scholarship not linked to sport. At Monkseaton the Sixth Form has a highly successful and renowned football academy.

We are proud to report

  • 46% of all A Level grades were A*-B
  • 20% A*-A and 74% of all grades A*-C

Our highest results on record to date. All students at A level achieved success maintaining our 100% A*-E record again above national. The average grade for our academic courses is a C grade, which is similar to most other providers. Our average grade for vocational courses is a Distinction+ which is significantly above the national average. These courses have allowed the vast majority of students to progress to University or other appropriate and exciting destinations.

We have some students with phenomenal results attaining the very top grades but again we believe in celebrating all students achievement and encourage all students to be the best they can be.
